Time to resurrect this thread

Hotel prices go down some but not a whole lot.

I ended up using 60K SPG pts to get 5 nights at JWM Admiralty for that period instead, versus the HKD 2300 advance purchase or HKD2800 cancelable. Award is fully cancellable so in essence it equates to the HKD2800 and that is before 10% service charge. Good redemption value in my book, for HKD2800x5x1.1 = HKD15,400 worth. Hope to be able to see some firework on the 29th from the lounge.

OTOH I am surprised by the much higher prices during X'mas and New Year. Even more surprised is there are actually award availability... Usually when the rate is so high at HKD6000, there would not be any standard award but there are...
