On LAX-SYD, after takeoff, the F/A on my side of D1 forgot to ask me what I wanted to drink and skipped me, and then when I flagged her down and asked for the DL "signature cocktail" (can't remember what it was at this point), she barked, "I don't know what it is and I don't have my glasses on me, so you'll have to read it to me!" She also had to be the most disheveled looking DL F/A I've seen - I couldn't get over how wrinkled her shirt and pants were.

This was about a half hour after takeoff, so with 14.5 hours to go, I wanted to see if I could "kill her with kindness" out of sheer curiosity to see if I could maybe find her nice side. In short: no matter how I tried to engage her, she couldn't be bothered.

So, in sum: go with the expectation that you'll have a good night's sleep because of the seat, and don't have any lofty expectations of the service.

It was a shame, really, because I generally think that DL in-flight crews are pretty solid, and it was my first bad experience in a while.
I've found the same thing on a recent ATL-JNB flight. No excuse.

I agree with you on the JFK-LAX D1 FAs. They have been very solid lately. On these flights over the past 6 months or so, good experiences (with the exception of food here and there).
