I stayed at the FS Marriott in Surfers Paradise, which had this same disclaimer. However at checkout they quietly waived the 2% fee without me even asking.

At checkout from Pier 1 I tried to get the same treatment but was rebuffed.

It would be far better to just bundle all the fees into the price I am quoted. I find this nickel-and-dime stuff irritating.
