If it's for 2017 there is nothing surprising about this. A couple of years ago I snagged the last two revenue J seats to KOA in August for the following February.

My sister did an AE tx to KOA one year ahead. A couple of weeks later she tried to change the return date. They just laughed at her. This was economy.
