I've been SPG Gold for years from spend, then from Amex Plat. This year, i've done a lot more business travel and Earned Gold. I've been staying at the same hotel every so often over the last several months about 1 to 2 weekends a month. All inexpensive paid nights, under 100 a night. I hit my 25 nights last week, again been gold the entire time from both spend on SPG Amex and have Amex Platinum. I was treated completely different at check in this last time, was given club access, nicer room, etc....
Maybe they just had more rooms available and decided that i'd stayed a lot so they're just being nice.
I know that there are Platinum levels, but had never heard of Gold levels.
Any thoughts? TIA

If your account has been showing as Gold before earning it by nights, the properties should have been giving you on-site benefits offered to all Golds. Now that said, there are no rules that prevent a property from treating a repeat guest to the same or better perks. Most times a personal relationship with a property and its staff will get you much better treatment than any loyalty program.
