If I wanted to inflict considerable pain on the company in terms of revenue hit, personally I would not strike between Christmas and the New Year when fares are generally a bit lower because the percentage of leisure travellers increases, so the value of refunds BA would have to offer would be reduced. I'd wait until business started up again in the New Year, so my money would be on the threat of action starting in the first or second week in January - which also gives some time to focus BA's mind into making a more equitable offer.
Striking on Christmas Day wont have as much as an effect as striking on Boxing Day, purely due to passenger numbers (also, I'm flying on 25th so I'd much rather they strike on another date

)
