My sample size is admittedly quite small, but the only problem I've endured while travelling cross-country on Amtrak is that the trains sometimes run "criminally" behind schedule. I'm pretty sure that you weren't referring to theft of time, but my advise is for them to not assume an on-time arrival... [Not much different from the airlines, tbh]
