An interesting study was published today on the link between safety and work environment and it seems to indicate a link between the low cost model and a less positive perception on safety by pilots themselves.

I agree we aren't there yet, but since the cabin crew are also there primarily for my safety - or so I am told - would the same not apply to them? Do you think that besides them not always responding appropriately (according to some) the reduction in experienced crews caused by BA's HR policy has an impact on safety?
I started to read this and it is a very interesting read. What transpires is that while pilots trust their colleague from any airlines, they usually do not put very much trust in their management for safety matters.

Let's hope that this doesn't end up on BA, and kudos to the cabin crew for refusing to fly with this flight crew.
This link makes for some scary reading. This incident and the culture at DY is relevant to the questions asked by henkybaby.

In general I do agree with this point, low-cost cabin crew could have a negative impact towards safety. Personally speaking their action affects my perception towards the safety of an airline. Although so far my experience is that the less safety oriented are the old timers that can not be bothered anymore.
