wondering how they can call this a weather problem? Why should this not be considered an equipment problem? Again, if other airlines are maintaining their normal operations it seems hard to call it a weather problem justifiably. Of course we all know all airlines will do what they can to avoid vouchering and compensation. So my question is what can I do to preserve my rights the best I can.

I'm not looking to fight with the agents here at the desk, and realize I'm probably going to have to do with after-the-fact compensation. However I'm open to any suggestions especially what I can do to document that this is a SW a problem not a weather problem .
Take a look at WN's COC published on 12/6. What difference does it make? Either way, you get the choice of a reroute on next available or a full cash refund. No compensation. Maybe some customer service gesture tossed your way.

No idea what your route was, but if there is an alternative, it's often worth taking a look at what a one-way ticket is running on any other carrier. Sometimes there are a lot of seats in IRROPS and that means some low fares.

While WN refuses to interline with other carriers, one of the reasons many businesses won't authorize its use, you can take the refund and simply purchase a new ticket on another carrier.
