Of this list, best locations for tourism IMO are St. Regis and Grand Hyatt. Renaissance Wangfujing is more of a hike for subway but not too bad. W Beijing is horrible to get in and out of by road/taxi. Financial Street...could be OK for access but it's not popular with tourists. Ritz Beijing and JW Marriott a lot of people like and there are lots of expats in that part of town--I think the CBD location is not the best for hitting the main sights but could work if you get out early enough to avoid traffic congestion (and packed subways) around there.
jiejie - thanks for the response. On a little different note - do you have any insight into the Swissotel? Saw a rate on Agoda for $64USD/night. Looks like a great location and, from the reviews, it's a solid 4*. Would hate to give up 36K SPG points if there is a decent, quality hotel that meets our touring needs for less than $75USD a night - I could put my points to much better use than that!
