Yes, this is what happened to us, very annoying as changed the day we booked. We had to pay 10% of the adult fare for the Economy out and UC leg back (JFK-LHR). They even apologised whilst booking as had tried to put it through the old way. Plus I think you have to spend the miles as well though we were upgrading so not sure if that is relevant.
