I was replying here to a side issue that was not part of the boarding procedure, I was seated watching the yellow tag staff trying to get passengers to put their bags in the hold because, surprise, surprise another domestic flight was "very full" - the man was picked out due to his two large bags, the excuse given was that someone else was away shopping (no, I wasn't eavesdropping - it was loud and i was two seats away).
I assumed it was his wife shopping or in the bathroom - but he was so very protective I considered his wife might actually be in the cases. He did the standard procedure for anyone not willing to give up the bags and pointed to someone else who had two large bags and the yellow tagger went off - *but* she warned she would be back.
There was maybe only 3 or 4 people waiting for priority boarding - but then they announced "Business, Gold and Silver" together - by the time I went to board there was a considerable amount of people clogging up the priority lane and it was because the boarding checker was not allowing Silvers leaving them hanging in confusion with the conflicting messages.
BA just cannot do boarding very well and the "shock" discovery that the flight is full and that they have to argue with passengers about cabin bags just adds to the entertainment of it all.
