Well what a great way to celebrate my ONE THOUSANDTH POST!

Just received two emails from BA customer service (one to me, one to Mrs. BLG) informing us that per EC 261 we are each entitled to £600 for our LHR-LAX flight which was delayed over four hours. We have each been offered 38,000 Avios if we prefer. It has only been about three weeks since the claims were filed and I never had to do any follow up.

I had no idea I was entitled to compensation until I mentioned the delay in passing in this post which had nothing to do with delays!

So I want to thank everyone on the BA forum for your help and guidance!!!

Now the big question -- do we take the money or take the Avios? I just checked the price of buying 38,000 Avios and it's about $1,000 vs. $760 in cash. Mrs. BLG and I will ruminate on it this weekend -- kind of like Santa came a few weeks early with a couple of unexpected stocking stuffers
