If it's 4 letters, I think that means that it's the rate program which they use on their internal systems. You may be able to get the three letter internet code from the sales manager at the hotel.
I know the reservation agents are able to convert a 3 digit GDS code to the 4 digit internal code but I'm not sure if they are able to do the reverse...but it might be worth a call....otherwise you'll have to ask the hotel directly


Note: not all negotiated rates are setup to book via the internet/travel agency systems
