Impressive list of Ritz restaurants.. as expected. But my point is that in general, boring Marriott is not as focused on culinary experiences as Starwood. Think Westin's SuperFoods Rx menu at all Westin properties. Think W having a destination bar. Le Meridien with their Eye Openers, Sparkling, Eclair and Illy trained baristas. I've found the quality of food to be poor at the Marriott/JW/Renaissance properties I've stayed and hope they can learn from Starwood to up their game.

We could get into a pissing war re: SPG/MAR on restaurant/cocktail offerings & by brands. Shrug - I don't find that worthwhile. And if we were going to do so, given that you & I are friends, we should do it over drinks - and you buy
I also don't get into absolute statements, but that's just me. Neither hotel chain amongst the 30 brands is great in all restaurant & drink offerings. The part that confuses me though is you're obviously a SPG person. How many MAR properties have you actually stayed in that you can extrapolate out across multiple properties/brands & say that's the norm? If it's just a few you do a disservice to MAR, just like someone staying only a few at SPG would do a disservice to SPG if the ones they stayed at were boring & then they said all SPG was boring.
