Domestic United First Class Flight - How can it be a P fare?

Back in June I booked a UA domestic RT flight in First Class from BWI to LAS with a connection in DEN on the outbound and in ORD on the return. Come to find out, the booking was done as a P fare which I do not understand as there was no business class on any of the flights since they were all 2 class service planes. Why does it matter? As an LH M&M member LH is only giving me 100% credit for the flights. They argue it was booked as a P and that means it was a Business Class booking. I'm trying to understand as previously all UA First Class flights seemed to have been booked as an F or an A fare. So...are P fares normal for domestic First? Want to avoid loosing out on tons of miles in the future since I got screwed out of close to 14k miles due to the P fare ticketing for a First Class booking.
