OP: Be advised that Qatar Airways currently have some great deals in business class from LAX. Including JNB (Johannesburg) for little more than US$2000. Qatar Airways also flies to Cape Town so there may be similar deals direct to where you want to go...but if not, I would still consider flying to JNB (if that was available) and buy onward transport separately.

Qatar Airways are an excellent airline and travelling so far in their business cabin is a steal at that price. And would likely help you along the way to getting the entire family status in your preferred oneworld frequent flyer programme.
