I was just being facetious. In fact I don't know if the downtown location is more spacious on a total square footage basis, as the layouts are very, very different, with the Flatiron location being more of a large, cavernous space, whereas the Downtown location is a series of contiguous spaces, some large and some small. But that said, it does seem to be everyone's experience that the downtown location is not as continuously crowded as is the Flatiron location.
BTW, I used to shop regularly at the Flatiron location (I moved from the neighborhood about 18 months ago), and notwithstanding the crowds, I thought it was by far the best market around. And because the bulk of the crowds were there for the restaurants and cafes, shopping there was not as challenging as one might think, and the lines for checking out were relatively short and moved quickly.
