Maybe it was only me, but I missed some centre with "local flair" - much more Western compared to Hong Kong or Bangkok. I'll give it another try and visit KL again. What not so miss to get a more "traditional" view of KL?
(This time I will go to Batu Caves for sure.)

Additionally where are some evening/night hot spots with authentic food?
Changkat in Bukit Bintang for Happy Hour (seriously, go here.) Jalan Alor (food street) for a food experience....within walking distance of Changkat, conveniently. If you like chicken wings, the Wong Ah Wah Famous Chicken Wings are actually pretty good, if a bit overhyped. (Buy some wet wipes at 7-11 for after dinner.)

Go to the mall attached to Petronas Towers and watch the "dancing water show" at night....wait until it's after sunset because the light show that accompanies the water fountains makes it a much better experience. There are several watering holes (I like the Irish Pub....Malones?) right across from the man made lake/pond for good viewing.

I've been to KL several times and find it a bit sterile; lots of shopping malls, hotels, and skyscrapers.
