REMDK - thanks for your reply. Yes, I depart CPH on a Tuesday. If I was to be switched to QR164/816 that would give me a much shorter transit in DOH but unfortunately it arrives in HKG at 20:55 and the CX HKG-ADL flight they have offered as a re-route departs at 19:05. To me the logical option would have been a re-route via SYD or MEL but when I spoke to the QR call centre staff they said this re-route was the only 'approved' re-route. And TBH I wasn't displeased with the offer. Afterall it's extra TP's for BA exec club and I like CX and the HKG lounges. The only irritant was the 9hr transit in DOH which wasn't to be a problem because I was (initially) offered accommodation.

Dr.HFH - thanks for the suggestion. And i've done exactly as you suggested. I think it's absurd to claim a 9hr transit is an 'immediate connection'.

I'm not going to entirely throw my toys out of the pram if they don't provide the accommodation. The annoyance for me is a) to be offered it initially to then agree to it and a few days later have the offer withdrawn. And b) to just not be able to get a straight reason as to why the offer was withdrawn and why I seemingly don't qualify when on qatarairways.com it says if the minimum transit time available is greater than eight hours you are entitled to accommodation.
