Skipping first leg of ticket on LKM
I am a NW flyer who uses KLM alot and have a KLM question. The person paying for my ticket on a flight soon has a deal with KLM which (they say) gives them special rates for KLM flights originating in Paris. The next trip I am taking I will be in Ams when I leave for a China and don't want to go back to Paris. The employer proposes to issue a Paris-Ams-Bej-Ams-Paris ticket with the Paris-Ams leg departing about a week before the actual Ams-Bej flight. They will then check in the computer some days after that and see if KLM cancels the flight since I didn't take the first leg. If so, then they will issue quickly get a new Ams-Bej-Ams (more expensive) ticket. If not, I will throw away the Paris-Ams coupon and checkin with the Ams-Bej coupon.
I am worried (as a lawyer I always worry) about the following: (1)that the ticket won't be cancelled before I try to check in but will be when I arrive at the gate, forcing me to pay for a full fare and fight later about reembursment from the employer; (2)the Ams-Bej flight might be sold out (they assure me not); (3)I won't get seat selection in advance of checkin; (4)there might be trouble later with my FF miles.
If anyone has had KLM experience with this I would appreciate it. (I wouldn't try it on NW)
Thanks in advance
