If you look at the Wiki on http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...allowance.html under "What may I check-in as baggage?" you will see that you may check any number of pieces in provided that they keep to the weight and size limits. It is the size limits that appear to be a problem. It is the overall dimensions of all pieces combined that have to have height + width + depth as a maximum of 300 cm. Many airport check-in staff are not even aware of the size limitations so there may be no problem and even if they are, unless the items are excessively oversize will ignore it. Some may even demand that a very bulky item go as 'outsize' luggage. I have never heard of size being a problem with checked baggage just hand luggage.
