Had a very strange message the other day though, that I've never seen before! Was sent via e-mail and SMS.
As my colleagues seem to be rookie travellers and were checking in their tiny carry on bags, I decided I may as well do the same. Was nice to not have to get the liquids out through security ^
From experience, I have never been denied checking in my hand luggage bag at check in on an HBO fare, assuming that was my only bag of course and it actually is hand luggage. I tend to do it if nothing valuable is inside and i don't want to deal with the hassle of all the liquids and only want to carry my laptop bag. The way passport control is these days the bag ends up getting at the carousel before I even reach it anyway, so doesn't cost me any time either!
