All airlines I have ever flown in the higher category classes included the seat assignment so this threw me off. I actually already booked the flight before I knew of this and it is non-refundable. I booked it through Iberia as it was a lower cost than through BA directly and through Iberia it allowed me to choose the seats. I still see the seats confirmed (a week later) on Iberia's website but not on BA site and when I called BA they mentioned the cost. I am going to leave it be for now and printed my confirmation from Iberia's site showing confirmed seats and see what happens when I check in for my flight 24 hours prior. Not traveling until May
