I seem to recall seeing something on TV, where the planes go under a giant de-icing frame.

The frame is built into the ground, and the planes go under it (like at a car-wash).

It may have been at OSL, but they said this was the most efficient way of de-icing...and when you've waited on the ground at LHR for the de-icing truck to arrive, you definitely believe it!
