My supervisor was staying at a hotel - the Vienna in Bantian, Shenzhen, China - a while back. Overnight, the ceiling collapsed and rendered useless all of his electronics. No force majeure, either.

The hotel manager said that it was his fault for putting his gadgetry under the ceiling. The hotel shaved about 7 kuai - US$1 at the time - off of the bill.
