This is, indeed, one for your travel insurance, I'm afraid. There are very few - if any - airlines that will refund on medical grounds other than for death of one of the passengers, and hopefully you're not in that position!

I imagine even the most basic policy would cover you here, so hopefully you only have to suffer the loss of any excess.
