I'm in the same situation later this week. I'm tagging along on a biz trip with my wife who has no marriott status.
I'm not even going to bring up he matter of my status with the front desk, because I already know the answer. YMMV, but as mentioned above, if you get any push back it's best to just let it be. You're going to have to find a very accommodating FD agent to bend the rules that far.
