If we book a less-than-ideal routing as a backup, say the Ethiopian Air flight, will we be able to then switch to a Swiss Air or Lufthansa flight (for example) if availability opens up (subject to a change fee)? In other words, booking with one of United's partners through United doesn't lock us in to that partner carrier, right?
