Thanks to you both. Right now Turkish is only available for a Mixed Cabin Business Saver award on those dates -- we may reconsider if business for both legs of the trip opens up.

Unfortunately no status, but I think they told me that with a Chase CC the award change fee is either eliminated or reduced (to $50 if memory serves), which we'd be fine eating if push comes to shove.

They also offered a $100 credit for the "phantom award" issue I encountered after a long and arduous negotiation and many calls/emails, but I'm still fighting with them about it and holding out for more.

I've been pretty fixated on it so don't mind checking everyday so will plan on continuing to do that until we get this sorted out. Can we book the South African direct flight on Economy Saver but pay the Business Saver award and get priority if it opens up or does that only work for United flights?
