Often if one is going to pay up for H, a B fare (which earns 150% EQMs, costs half the miles to upgrade, and is often refundable and nearly as flexible as a Y ticket in terms of flight changes) can sometimes be had for only a few dollars ($100-200) more. I personally value 30K miles at more than that, so getting the bonus EQMs plus getting the upgrade for 30K r/t instead of 60K means I always look at the B fares if intending to upg with miles.
