Yes but they will work; have used them many times on CX. Actually, in a pinch, regular one pronged headphones will also work if you don't insert the plug all the way in, though the plug will have a tendency to fall out.
Yes, you will just get one channel of audio but it should still work.
The crew sometimes have a spare adapter if you ask.
