We are almost exclusively AS fliers. We use BA and other partners airlines as well. Unfortunately we happen to have tickets on a medium haul flight on OS (Austrian Air). So where do we stash the miles to best serve us in the AS partner/market place. I know you guys are clever. I could not figure it out. It hurts to put it in mileage plus.... We don't use those airlines after all.
I have a stash of UA miles that have almost entirely been both earned and spent on LH/AC. Star Alliance miles are handy to have sometimes, even if you're rarely on UA metal itself, as it gives you a whole different set of options if no AS partner carrier has the availability you need.
ANA miles expire 3 years after they're earned, regardless of later account activity.
