That's not always true. My first statement was 14 days after I applied (13 days from the day it was approved).
This was my experience as well.
- Day 0, Applied for the card
- Day 4, Annual fee billed
- Day 12, Statement Generated
Confirmed all this info by looking at my application and statements.
