Asking as a Mom who is going to be very worried about a slightly clueless daughter making a connection for a long trip. I haven't connected in Atlanta in ages and the last time I did, Delta clearly didn't care about other late Delta flights and I almost missed mine.
I have an eighty year old relative who is not very good with directions who makes 30-35 min connections in ATL, so I think the timing is fine. There are 4 daily ATL-AMS flights, so as long as your daughter is not booked on the last departure of the day, there are backup options. If she is currently on the last daily ATL-AMS flight, the MSP option would not be the last daily MSP-AMS flight (there are 2 daily flights), and you are extremely worried, then I would spend the $5 to switch to MSP.
