Most leisure passengers will still book the cheapest flight and most business passengers are likely flying based on corporate contracts (not to mention wont be paying for meals anyhow).
I think that the reduction in competition nationwide has resulted in more stable pricing. We are not seeing the fare wars that we used to. The upside of this for customers is that airlines are finally starting to compete on product and customer service again, something we have not really seen in earnest since deregulation. The downside, of course, is that fares are more expensive.
So far I prefer a better experience and paying a little more.
