Canceling Flight Because of Illness

Hello Everyone,

Unfortunately, I've come down with a horrible flu, and I'm supposed to fly VS tonight. I have Cystic Fibrosis, and I could obtain a doctor's note saying I'm not fit for travel. I have what I believe to be a nonrefundable ticket (K class) and I'm not really looking for a refund, just perhaps changing to a flight tomorrow. Should I call in an explain my case? Do you think VS would be understanding in a situation like this?
