Being a so subjective matter, it almost seems to me as impose itself on others.
...and therein lies the problem.

BA example: After sweating for a few hours whilst wearing the minimum I'm comfortable with on a plane (short running shorts and a t shirt) I finally decided it was worth mentioning to the FA (the other 2 passengers in first may have also been too hot and to shy to mention it). The flight attendant changed from 24C to 22C, gave me a cold bottle of water and voila - problem solved.

AA example: This afternoon I was on an AA flight. Plane was a little warm but there were individual vents above each seat and they seem to blow out air that is colder than the rest of the cabin. Turned mine on. Problem solved without having to impose on others.
