The Lakeview suites are good solid rooms, and TOTALLY different to the Fairmont rooms. The signature cabins are well worth the splurge too - they aren't luxurious and they bathrooms are small, but it was pretty special sitting around a roaring fire with a perfect winter scene outside the door. Walking past elk on the way to the main lodge is fun, and the lake for skating is in an idyllic setting. For me the biggest achilles heel of the property is the food, which is distinctly average other than the Sushi place (which is great!).

Its not posh but it is special in my opinion. I can see why people are disappointed in the Fairmont rooms though.
Thanks for this input .
Anyone stayed here in June ?
Or been to Banff & Jasper in May / June ?

My visits have been more spring / winter .
Should one train then drive Banff / Jasper ?
