I'm struggling to understand the logic of Qantas segments. Just flew QF 1/2 SYD-LHR return in J -- two "segments". However QF1 SYD-DXB or DXB-LHR would each be one "segment"... and despite the cost/distance of this flight, it is counted as a segment just as a 45 minute hop for a fraction of the expense. I can sort of understand the desire to avoid giving status to someone who only flies on other oneworld airlines, but the execution here seems illogical to me. Any thoughts on why it works this way?
