The snack bar on trains in Norway use EMV and Contactless. I had to wait several minutes to pay because we were in a tunnel and the card reader couldn't get a cellular signal, but Norwegian passengers could pay without a problem, so I think the local cards were processing offline while my US card needed to go online. Another passenger with a US debit card also had to wait.
