Qantas baggage allowance for Oneworld frequent flyers [Edited]
Recently I flew Quantas on two domestic legs. I am a BA silver member, which is Oneworld Sapphire. I tried to find out online - on both the Quantas and the Oneworld websites - if my Sapphire status would give me one additional bag when flying Economy on Quantas internal domestic flights (I was flying Melbourne to Adelaide; and Adelaide to Perth).
I couldn't find out anywhere. I then did a special trip into Melbourne airport, where I asked one of the girls on the Quantas Sales Desk in T1. She looked it up, and told me definitely - no - you can have access to the Quantas Club lounges, but you do NOT get an extra bag.
OK. So I went online and purchased an extra bag for each leg, at AUD 35 per leg, total AUD 70. This was half the price of purchasing it at the airport.
So - I got to the checkin at Melbourne, and the check-in girl said - Oh, you would have got the extra bag anyway due to your Sapphire Status. The same happened at Adelaide, where a most helpful man gave me a copy of the Quantas issued bit of paper which has all the allowances on.
So I then phoned Quantas reservations, on 131313 - and a very helpful girl called Lena authorised a refund of my AUD 70. Great!
But it would have been a lot less hassle if I'd been able to find out about the allowance online - e.g. on Quantas's own website. Please clarify this, Quantas!
