If there is status-related availability, you won't be able to book that through avios.com. But I suspect there may be something else going on here. Try calling avios.com or web-chatting to double check there isn't something else going on here. Is it a simple routing?

There may be a way on ba.com to see what flights they relate to, but I can only see a message at the top of all the flights saying extra availability has been made available as I'm gold. Now that you mention it, I seem to think it's only on domestic/economy this applies to.
It's a ABZ-Milan search I am doing (via LHR, obviously) I will look again tomorrow when I'm on my laptop and see if I can get some help.
