IT problems due to name change after marriage

I thought that rather than burying this with all the other sundry IT complaints in the general thread, this very specific issue might merit its own (hopefully short) thread. And none of the old ones on this subject related to IT issues.

I got married last month and my now-wife changed her name. We were sensible about timing of booking tickets etc, so haven't had any problems with that.

She phoned Aeroplan last week and it was relatively painless to get that changed. When logging in, her name now shows up as Smith. So that's all good. But it seems that when you actually go to book a ticket, it's not so simple.

I booked revenue flights the other day. Entered her name and AE number no problem and it accepted them (remember that it does a name check against the database after you enter an AE number), pulled up her E35K status and gave the little green check mark. After completing the booking, it gave me a message that it couldn't verify her FF number. And the e-mail confirmation shows her FF program as none.

Tonight, I made another revenue booking. Didn't get that message about FF number, but when I look at the confirmation e-mail or check the booking online, it doesn't show.

Try to make a booking for her on an FP. I deliberately waited until after she did the name change with Aeroplan before I ever added her as a passenger on the FP, let alone made any bookings. Once again, it accepts her just fine when I add her as the 2nd passenger. But when I try to make a booking, it tells me it can't be done because of an invalid FF number.

Anyone know how to fix this? Using her maiden name, it rejects it straight away, so that doesn't work. And yes, I know we could get it added at the airport, or retro credit, or whatever, but I'd like to figure out the permanent solution to this so things just function smoothly.

So typical of AC, but very frustrating nonetheless.
