The BR 744 on YVR-TPE only has the old J product; not terrible, but far from great.
ET for you intra-Asia flights should be perfectly fine, though I'd probably pay the extra $50 in YQ to fly OZ J or NH J, if available.
FWIw, you could also route via Europe, e.g. YVR-YUL(AC)-ZRH-NRT(LX).
