My flight from LAX-CAN during boarding I was listening to music on my phone. The ISM told me to turn it off. I said it was in airplane mode she just said not allowed turn off and put away.
I had similar experiences with multiple trips with the Vietnamese carriers as well. The first time I was on Vietjet, I had my phone on airplane mode, and a Bose wired noise cancelling headphone. I was told to turn off both of the phone and the noise cancelling headphones. I only use the noise cancelling headphones when i am on the plane.
