Yes, they appear to have done a great job "clearing things up".
Embarrassing that they had to send clarification to start with and even more embarrassing that they haven't actually managed to clarify anything.

That doesn't really matter, IMO. It only matters for elite status that is earned, not elite status which required a cash outlay.
Unfortunately it does matter, there is also a line in the AMB T&Cs that says they can amend those T&Cs at anytime as well.
