airlines from mainland china are very notorious for this no phone/electronics during take off and landing. even stricter with cellular phone as it is simply not allowed during the whole flight. I find it weird and mind boggling because in reality, as soon as the aircraft lands, you will hear and see mostly chinese passengers rushing to turn on their phones, beep beeep beeep ding dong ting ting ting every single ringtone you could imagine will decorate the cabin and passengers will stand up and start gathering their belongings. if the whole rational is cellular phones interfere with the avionics, surely passengers should still not be allowed to use their phones while the aircraft is taxing to the gate. and believe me, the pilots and flight attendants do use their phones even during the flight.

the cabin crews just have to follow the rules set by the chinese government. they get in trouble for not enforcing the rule. so just like the posters above have mentioned, if you want to use your phone to listen to music, do it discreetly
