Hi,

I'm going to be in Auckland in late May, planning to stay in New Zealand for about a week. Is it worth trying to visit both islands, or should I stay on the North island? Interests include light hiking, nature in general, and culture.

(Has anyone flown Air Tahiti Nui? They seem to have some good deals LAX->AKL with a free stopover in Tahiti. (Also looking at Fiji Air for the same concept))

Really, any advice is appreciated. I'm new to anything in the Pacific.
