But if you switch to t-mo a few times, eventually the fi firmware seems to learn that's the better signal in that area and uses it. At least that's what other's have reported here and that's what we're seeing also.

So I've heard. But for the few weeks I was in the States that did not occur. Perhaps it takes longer to learn.
